Simrad Yachting Announces New Family of Sunlight-Viewable, LED-Backlit Monitors

October 27, 2011

Tulsa, Okla. – Simrad Yachting – the innovative world-leader in the design and manufacture of professional performance marine navigation, autopilots, communications and fish-finding systems – announced today its new lineup of sunlight viewable, LED-backlit, glass bridge monitors. The Simrad MO-L Series is designed to deliver maximum screen size and optimum viewing in the smallest possible form factor. The new monitors are ideal for luxury cruisers and yachts, as well as sportfishing and recreational cruising boats where helm space is limited. Compatible with the award-winning Simrad NSO and NSE multifunction displays and B&G Zeus sailing navigation systems, the Simrad MO-L Series incorporates advanced operation for ease-of-use, and enhanced screen technology for ultimate display visibility and clarity in all lighting conditions.

Replacing the company’s former MO Series, the new family of sleek, large-screen monitors from Simrad Yachting feature improved optics, LED backlighting, nine video inputs and rugged construction. The result is a line of 15-, 17- and 19-inch LED-backlit models that are simple to operate and provide greater brightness and increased contrast ratio than previously available. As an example, the former MO15 offered 600 Nit brightness and a 350:1 contrast ratio, while the new MO15-L delivers 1500 Nits and a 700:1 contrast ratio. The result is crisp, clear visibility from wide angles in bright, sunlight conditions.

The Simrad MO-L Series’ stylish black-glass fascia and streamlined bezel edge are ideal when monitors are flush-mounted, side-by-side. The result is a beautiful glass bridge display that maximizes space savings at the helm. Offering easy On-Screen Display (OSD) menu control, the monitors include a three-button wired remote keypad that can be mounted near the display or hidden in cabinet space. The displays accept multiple video inputs that can be easily custom labeled, including composite, NTSC, S-Video, DVI-D, VGA and SXVGA.

For exceptional night viewing, the new MO-L LED-backlit monitors dim to complete black and also have a red-mode viewing option. Additional features include advanced Picture in Picture (PIP) capabilities for display flexibility, a 12-24 VDC voltage input range and OSD language support for English, German, French, Spanish and Italian.

“The new MO-L Series LED-backlit monitors are another example of Simrad Yachting leading the way with marine product innovation and user-friendly design,” said Louis Chemi, COO, Navico Americas. “Matched with our high performance Simrad NSE, NSO and B&G Zeus multifunction displays, these new monitor options provide stunning, space-saving, sunlight-viewable displays with ultimate quality and usability.”

The MO-L Series consists of the MO15-L (15-inch), MO17-L (17-inch) and MO19-L (19-inch) models. Featuring active matrix color TFT LCD screens with a maximum resolution of 1920x1200 analog and 1600x1200 digital, the 15-, 17- and 19-inch marine monitors have brightness and contrast measurements of 1500 nits/700:1, 1300 nits/840:1 and 900 nits/2400:1, respectively. The MO15-L and MO17-L provide a wide viewing angle of 80 degrees from center horizontally and 75 degrees from center vertically. The MO19-L delivers the widest viewing angle on the market – 85 degrees from center horizontally and vertically. With ruggedized construction for the harsh marine environment, the displays are housed in a powder-coated, UV protected, marine-grade aluminum enclosure. Simrad MO-L Series monitors are dust and water resistant to the IP66 standard, and are protected by a two-year limited parts and labor warranty.

The Simrad MO15-L, MO17-L and MO19-L have suggested retail prices of $7,995, $9,995 and $10,795 US, respectively, and can be purchased from authorized  Simrad Yachting dealers and distributors throughout the United States and Canada.
