Simrad-Yachting is pleased to announce a software upgrade for the Halo™ Radar and for the RI-12 interface module. The new software adds great new features and improvements as outlined below.

RI-12 Improvements

Some users have reported connectivity issues when using a HALO™ radar, resulting in the radar going into STBY or going offline and displaying “No Scanner” or “No Radar” messages on the multifunction display.

The following improvements have been made to the RI12:

  • Stability improvements when running HALO™ radar on an 110/230V AC -24V DC power supply; RI12 can now handle voltage dips down to 10 V DC
  • Better handling of higher resolution heading data sources that on certain bearings could cause the HALO™ to go into STBY
  • Fix to the bootloader so future RI-12 updates (after this one) will no longer require NMEA 2000® address 127 to be updated; also enables multiple RI-12's to be upgraded at the same time
  • Essential improvements for easier software upgrades
  • Eliminates an occasional communication lock-up at high NMEA 2000® bus loads
  • General stability improvements
  • Has registered NMEA 2000 product code

The software for both the RI-12 and Halo™ Radar must be upgraded as the new Halo software is not compatible with older versions of RI-12 software.
